Its mission is to treat patients who require intense nursing and prolonged hospitalization. Its strength is expert, long-term acute care that gives patients valuable recovery time. IMH is a self-sufficient, efficiently managed 35-bed hospital located in the heart of Columbia, South Carolina. A six-member Board of Directors governs IMH, a nonprofit organization.
A full medical staff and more than 150 credentialed physicians representing multiple disciplines comprise IMH. IMH medically manages acute care patients with
- Infections requiring several weeks of intravenous antibiotic therapy
- Complex wounds, stage III or greater
- Dependency upon mechanical ventilators for life-sustaining support requiring a strategically designed weaning program
Our individualized care plans help acutely ill patients achieve a timely recovery. Our staff is determined to help patients attain their most important goal: a return to normal life.
InterMedical Hospital of SC is committed to bridging the gap in service delivery to patients who require complex, long term acute care. While focusing on prevention of secondary medical conditions that endanger the welfare of our patients, IMH will provide personalized medical, nursing and therapeutic care. With excellence and compassion as our guiding principles, IMH will be an essential contributor to the continuum of care within the healthcare community. IMH strives to improve the physical, emotional, and spiritual health of our patients and their families without regard to race, religion, disability, gender and/or ability to pay.
Demonstrating Community Need
A comprehensive Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) was completed in 2013 for InterMedical Hospital. The analysis included a careful review of the most current health data available, demographics and input from numerous community representatives. The CHNA helps to guide InterMedical programs in support of the health of the community and the mission of the organization.
